Who we are
Valley Wine Trails is operated by Christa Cooper (the "Seller", "we", "us"). For the personal data described below, the Seller acts as the data controller and is responsible for how your information is processed.
Information We Collect
- Account data: email address, display name, login credentials.
- Preferences & activity: notification settings, favorites, check-ins, reviews, saved routes.
- Location data: approximate location when you opt in to proximity alerts (processed on-device for geofencing).
- Device & usage data: IP address, device identifiers, browser type, and basic telemetry to operate and secure the Service.
- Support communications: messages you send us.
How We Use Your Information & Legal Basis
- To provide and maintain the Service, including account creation and personalized recommendations — performance of a contract.
- To deliver proximity notifications you've opted into — your consent.
- To secure the Service, prevent fraud, and improve product quality — our legitimate interests.
- To comply with applicable law — legal obligation.
Location Data
Location is used only on-device to detect when you enter a geofence. You can disable this at any time in notification settings.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data with the following categories of recipients:
- Service providers / subprocessors we use to operate the Service (hosting, database, analytics, customer support).
- Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record, who processes payments, manages subscriptions, calculates and remits sales tax, and issues invoices and refunds on our behalf. Paddle independently controls the payment data you provide at checkout under its own privacy policy.
- Professional advisers (e.g. legal, accounting) where reasonably necessary.
- Authorities when required by law or to protect our rights.
Data Retention
We keep your personal data only as long as needed to provide the Service and for legitimate business or legal purposes. Account data is retained while your account is active and for up to 24 months after deletion or last activity, after which it is deleted or anonymised. Transaction records may be kept longer where required by tax or accounting law.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encrypted storage, access controls, and regular review of our systems and subprocessors. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to limit risk and respond promptly to incidents.
Your Rights
Subject to your local law, you may request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or portability of your personal data, and you may object to or withdraw consent for certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below.
